Frequently Asked Questions

How fresh are the results?

Results include articles indexed in the last few minutes. Use start_date / end_date to scope to a specific window, e.g. last 24 hours for breaking news or last quarter for earnings coverage.

Can I filter by country?

Yes. country_code accepts ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 codes (US, GB, JP, DE, …). It biases results toward sources from that country.

What's the difference vs. /api/search/web?

The news endpoint is tuned for journalistic sources with publication dates and prefers timely articles. /api/search/web is better for general reference content (docs, Wikipedia-like, evergreen pages).

Is there a tool schema for AI agents?

Yes. GET /api/search/news/tool-schema returns OpenAI function and Claude tool use definitions ready to paste into agent code.
